Sunny's Kicker

Post by Tanner »

Even though I haven't heard anything about Sunny's kicker, just what dad has told me, it seems that when the kicker is cocked, the tubing is stretched out among the bottom. The only thing about that kinda annoys me about it is seeing that go over the bumps. Yeah, it probably won't be that much trouble, but the idea of having something that could a) possibly break due to strain and who knows what on the carpet and/or environment or b) fire due to the tubing being stretched a bit too far and having the kicker impact the bumps at high speed.

I don't know if these bugs are wrong or not, as I have not seen anything about the kicker, but this is what I know would happen with what little information I know. Plus it still kinda bothers me that it could get tangled, but again - I know nothing of what it looks like.

Taking into account exactly how much torque the fisher price gear should have, we should be alright.

And I don't think going over the bump will knock the transmission out of gear.

The wooden kicker and Sunny's kicker are essentially the same. Sure they are a different shapes and sizes.

Sunny's kicker has the tensioning tubing attached to the bottom sides of the kicker and the tensioning device mounted in the center of the robot pulling the kicker up.

The wooden kicker has the tensioning tubing attached to a leverage arm on top and on the sides towards the rear. The tensioning device would be on the front, pulling forward.

The difference is accomplished by the different shape of the kicker arm.

What I would be interested is one design more powerful or effective than the other? Is real estate in the center of the robot more important for the lifting mechanism.

Either case, the kicker needs to be as wide as possible.
