Chain on T-Chassis

Post by Tanner »

Heh. Apparently we need to rethink how the chain is chained.

Summary: If chain touches the ground, it is a "traction device" and is therefore illegal.

Idler sprockets?

Dang it.

Well, for idler sprockets, you'd still have to have two levels. One that keep the top half of the chain up, and one that keeps the bottom half of the chain up.

Maybe use the Andymark tensioners, and drill holes and mount them both facing the same way.

That could work. Depends how much it brings it up though. We don't need much though.

Question though - would the tensioner move when the chain is moved? I know it probably won't just drag along with the chain, but would it drift over time?

Didn't we order some last year?

I think we did, but they didn't make sense.

I mean...I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "drift" but I don't think so.

I think we just need to add 4 idlers on the lower chain to raise it up. Should not be a big deal.

We do need to make sure we have #25 idlers and needed shafts and mounting for the shafts.

Where would you add a idler sprocket for the bottom chain to raise it that would not interfere with the robots ability to go over the bump?

The idler is going to have to be mounted to the lower 8020 part of the frame.

Wouldn't that cause the lower part of the chain to hit the upper part of the chain?
