Human Players

Sunny wrote:Another issue that I thought of is human players. In lunacy they were a very essential part of the game, but in the mini-game, if the players are standing up, they can literally make cross court shots. My thoughts are that either players need to sit down and we construct the field to accommodate the height of these players or we create a different method of shooting that will be harder (idk like a mini catapult or something). Any thoughts on this?
Well, I know I'm not going to really want to make a new field (and I doubt Dad would either). Plus I'm not sure how that would work with the human players either.

One idea I had was to limit the actual throwing movement of the human players to their wrist. I'm not sure how it would work, but either we build some sort of mount for the players or something, and they just throw using their wrist. That way we don't have to build some sort of catapult to rely on breaking and stuff. The distance from a wrist throw seems to be small enough for the field. Though I'm not sure how you'd accommodate all those people on the field...

You brought up the field, and you should know that last year's field and this year's field are two different shapes. And also that some of the panels were disassembled during the FRC season, so those would need to be rebuilt.

You don't have to do it over the summer. It could be something we all do during the fall.

I think a good thing would be that all throws have to be underhand. So that basically stops all 'basketball' style shots and the shots aren't 'as' accurate as if they were delivered overhand.

They are not too different. The corners can be kept while just extending the field a bit and the center panels can just have a hole drilled into them. Not too hard I don't think.

Under hand is a idea. It'd be a bit harder to throw at shots close to you (since you have to do less Vx and probably ending with more Vy). It may work though...

what if we only have middle players, and they must lie down on their chests to throw? we could lay some mats downs for them to be on, put some cushion for the elbows and such, and BAAM! perfect place for a human player. layin down on the job is never easier, yet is harder to throw accurately than sitting or even underhand.

Laying down on your chest and throwing might be to hard. That's basically saying you lay down on ur belly and throw, and while that is a challenge, it's really hard to crane one's neck to get a basic look of the field.

I mean...IMHO, asking them to be on their chest/bellies is going a little bit too far.

I think either underhand or using the wrist would be better.
