Sunny's Idea
Sunny's Idea
We need to get Sunny's roller idea drawn out. We need to see how tall the rollers need to be and the height above the floor the rollers need to be. From this, we need to model on Tanner's model to see how the rollers might possible react with the Bump.

Re: Sunny's Idea
How it reacts to the bump depends on the drivetrain, which I figure is like everything else at the moment where we have 3-4 floating ideas, and nothing else.
If someone wants to draw a drivetrain, I could draw it in and play with it.

Mr. Smith, I drew out exact dimensions for the roller system and I gave them to Tanner. He has the sheet with the drawings. As of right now, all of the dimensions depend on the radius of the rollers, hence the extensive use of variables.
As far as the height of the rollers is concerned, I don't think they need to be too tall. IMO, 2-3 inches should be good.
And as far as the height off the ground of the mechanism, I think that will depend on he chassis. In Logan's design, The rollers will need to sit at the same height as the slanted wheels. The design that Tanner has, which IMO is better than Logan's design, I believe the rollers can sit almost anywhere.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that.

Re: Sunny's Idea
Roger, our goal is to some how build a prototype on Saturday.
Re: Sunny's Idea
Take a look at this 'roller' type design. Do you think it would be helpful?
Not sure how to get/make one.

Would depend on what it is made of. If it is made of plastic with some rubber ribs it'd do good, if it is just smooth plastic, it'd be useless. You could get one made with a Lathe.

I'm sorry I don't quite understand what I'm looking at, I guess I just don't have much perspective.
And for calculations, I believe the exact radius of the soccer ball is 4.375".

It's the perspective as though you were laying down on the floor looking at the robot coming at you. You've got the "I" Beam or hourglass of a spinner to intake the ball.
